Outlander

People often ask me where I get my inspiration for my shoots from, and the reality is that its from lots and lots of different things. I’m incredibly inspired by stories though, and a particular story/ TV show is what inspired this shoot in particular. If you know me personally, you’ll know that I am a MASSIVE fan of Outlander, the TV show based on the books written by Diana Gabaldon. The stories are complex and beautiful, but in a nutshell, they’re about a woman in the 1950s who, whilst on a trip to Scotland with her husband, accidentally goes back in time to the 1700s. Its the tale of her attempting to get back to her real time, and the adventures she goes on. It’s also an incredibly romantic story, about love and being pulled in different directions, which is something that I can personally relate to, a lot.

I’ve never actually been to the Scottish highlands myself (yet) but Bodmin Moor, in Cornwall, looked a lot like the locations used in the show. So, after a whole year of set backs, I finally got to bring the editorial vision in my head to life.

All shot on film, these images are some of my favourites that I’ve ever taken. We used an entirely local team, and for early December, I couldn’t believe how lucky we are with the weather - a rarity in Cornwall!
