Isabella

In early November, I got a direct message on my Instagram from a lovely girl called Isabella. She told me she was a model, and that she spent quite a lot of time in Cornwall. Naturally, I went to see her Instagram and was quickly blown away by how beautiful she was.

Within a few minutes of chatting, we’d both agreed on a date to shoot, and I began planning!

I’m working very hard to build up my beauty portfolio at the moment, and with each test shoot I do, I try to do something different - be it a new light set up, or a new lens, etc. This time I chose to test out the 105mm 2.8 macro lens… and oh my goodness does my wallet wish that I hadn’t! I’m so impressed with this lens, and I can 100% see why so many beauty photographers rave about it.

It’s already been added to my shopping cart.

I also tested out shooting beauty on film during this shoot. I really love the process of shooting on film, and I’ve written about why, before. But the process of getting your negatives back, and then scanning them in will never, ever get old.

I’m really happy with these images. Isabella was a dream, as was the rest of the team involved. What was very much just a day to try out ideas, play, and have some fun, resulted in us all getting a handful of really beautiful and strong images that we can use for our portfolios.
