Yoga has become a big part of my life in the past 12 months, largely to do with this girl in these photos!
Kyla is a physiotherapist, acupuncturist, and yoga teacher living in the Falmouth area, running her own practice; Onda. We met in the Winter, during a yoga class we were both in, and immediately connected. I mentioned to her my back trouble that I'd been experiencing for quite a long time, and asked if she might be able to help. Sure enough, she said she could, so a week or so later, I went for my first appointment.
I'd seen plenty of physios, chiropractors, osteopaths, and even a few doctors about my chronic back pain, which was only seeming to get worse over time. Each one of them had told me that they could sort it out, and each week I'd go back to them for more treatment, only to leave feeling relieved for a short amount of time before the pain came back.
When I first saw Kyla, I'll admit wasn't sure she would be able to help, but by the time our hour was up, she'd given me a concrete plan of action on how we were going to fix my back. She told me upfront it would be a long recovery, and would take time, but I was glad she was being honest, and giving me a real idea of what we needed to do.
Well, it's been almost a year since that first appointment, and I'm still work in progress, but I'm feeling so much better than I was last year. I'm stronger in areas that I need to be to support my back, and I'm learning so much more about my body. Who knew it could be so hard to just do a squat correctly!? I've not just gained a more pain free life, but a new friend, too! Yoga is now a regular part of my life, and in fact, has become very necessary. I can't imagine going back to not practicing.
So, with this huge love for yoga comes inspiration, and I'd love to work with other Cornish yogi's to photograph them! So if you're a yoga teacher, or just a yogi who likes to practice, let me know and I'd love to photograph you, just like I've photographed Kyla here :)
