Zennor must be one of the most mystical places in the world. There's just something about it which feels like you've stepped right into a fairy tale. I first stumbled on the barren area of Cornwall 3 years ago during an afternoon of exploring with Tom. We wondered around, climbing boulders and peering peeking over cliff edges. I knew in that moment that one day I'd photograph something there. It took two years to get there, but eventually, a shoot did happen, and I'm so excited to finally be able to share it with you today!
It's pretty obvious by now that I'm a huge romantic at heart, so for this photoshoot, I dreamed up the idea of a runaway couple, desperately in love, and with a heart filled with adventure. There’s an element of forbidden love here, which harks back to my adoration for William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” (which you’ll see reoccurring in a lot of my editorial work). These two have a love for the land, elope on the cliffs of Cornwall, and never look back. Clearly, my version of Romeo and Juliet has a happy ending.
Jess Doherty (who you may remember from this shoot) and Jo Martyn had never met until the morning of this shoot, so it was always going to be interesting to see how they "performed" as a couple. I think you'll agree with me that they nailed it ;)
I hope you love the images as much as I do, and if you fancy getting a behind the scenes view of the way, click the video below! A huge thank you to Vow Magazine for publishing these images in their Spring issue, and to the whole team for putting up with my crazy ideas, even in the middle of Winter!
