Elisha At Caerhays Castle

I've been trying to write this blog post for weeks.

It's been so hard to find the words to accompany this editorial, simply because these are some of my favourite images for a while. I definitely love what I've been producing for the past 12 months or so, but sometimes everything in a day is just so perfect, it leaves me feel giddy inside for days. This shoot was one of those. Ione and I had wanted to go back to Caerhays Castle for a shoot ever since we shot there last year. So, when the day finally came and we were faced with torrential rain, it broke our hearts a little bit. But we powered on through, and shot in my home studio (those images are coming soon!) and rearranged our shoot for another day.

I'm so glad that we did.

After producing and shooting a lot of very big editorials with large teams, we had a craving for something a bit simpler: just Ione, a model, and myself. You may recognise Elisha, our model for this shoot, from some images I did with her in November last year!

When the shoot day arrived, it was sunny, warm, and as you can see, the flowers were out in full force in the gardens. I don't think I've ever been so happy in my entire life!

These images come with no real concept, no real story, and no real ambition. They're just us creating, and have a tun of fun whilst doing it. I truly hope that you love these images as much as I do!

On a totally seperate note, I'm currently taking books for commercial photoshoots for August onwards, so if you're a brand or business looking to have new imagery captured for your brand, get in touch! I'd love to hear from you.

A Day With Elisha | Model Test Shoot

Oh my goodness, how is it already the 23rd of December? In two days time, it's Christmas! Can you tell that I'm excited? Yes, I'm very, very excited. Anyway, onto the serious stuff... A couple of weeks ago, Magdalena, the lovely booker from Gingersnap Models in Bristol, contacted me wondering if I had any free time to work with one of their newly signed girls, Elisha. One glance at her book, and I knew I needed to work with her! Isn't she one of the most beautiful girls you've ever seen? We set a date, and I picked Elisha up from Truro train station with a vague plan in mind of what I wanted to capture. Recently, I've worked on quite big production photoshoots, which involve weeks of planning (which I love, don't get me wrong!) but sometimes, it's just as nice to do a shoot with less of a strict plan in place. We put a couple of outfits together, Ione did Elisha's hair and make up, and I set up my studio. You may have seen my chat about this shoot over on my Instagram Story on the day of. In all honesty, this is me practicing and getting ready for the vlogs I'm going to start making in 2017. I'm quite nervous about making them, because talking to a camera is DEFINITELY not something that I'm used to doing... but I'll give it my best shot! Rather than get my lights out for the studio images, I made use of the huge windows that Tom and I have in our flat, and my god, I LOVE the results. I'm all about soft light, so the fact that I can produce images like the ones you see with absolutely no artificial lights makes me so happy. The only thing I need is a sunny day! Towards the end of the afternoon, we drove around the corner to Pendennis Point to get a few shots of Elisha on location. Pendennis Point is one of my favourite spots in Falmouth; it holds so many memories to me, and it's a place that I used to escape to during my University years when I felt like I needed to be alone. Not only that, I used it as a photoshoot location throughout Uni as well. The result though, was that I got a bit tired of using it as a shoot location, so I hadn't shot there with a model in a very long time. It's safe to say that I'm so pleased I went back there, because it still remains a favourite place to shoot... and it's right around the corner!

Anyway, enough of me rambling. I hope you love these images as much as I do. But most of all, I hope you have the most magical Christmas ever!

Make Up and Hair: Ione Kutz Model: Elisha @ Gingersnap Models Thank you to Deja Vu Clothing for letting me borrow a couple of items! If you've not been there yet, you're really missing out. The selection of clothing in there is amazing, and so affordable! I highly recommend.
