I promise I haven't been abroad somewhere super hot and tropical in the last two weeks... I only drove a few miles down the road to Durgan beach to meet with the beautiful Maisie Tooley to play with cameras! I wouldn't be suprised if you though I was lying to you though... the day had to have been one of the most beautiful I've ever experienced in Cornwall.
Maisie and I had been wanting to get together to do a little shoot for quite some time, and when the date finally came around, I couldn't believe our luck with the weather. I've had quite a few days of bad luck recently, where the summer weather simply hasn't been on my side. But that's ok, Cornwall made up for it big time!
Playing on the beach in the sun with Maisie was actually a really good challenge for me. I very rarely shoot at midday, in the blaring midday sun. Why? Because of the harsh shadows that the direct sunlight brings. It makes my job quite a bit harder, but thanks to a bit of trial and error, a patient model, (and an experienced one at that) I think we came away with some pretty gorgeous images!
I'm pushing myself to get out of my comfort zone more and more lately. It's scary, and makes me feel uncomfortable, but I think that without those feelings... how would anyone ever progress further? One of my next challenges: shoot an entire editorial with an aperture of f8 and over. EEK!
Stay tuned ;)
