Celebrating World Photo Day with Joules
What's this? A blog post on a Saturday? That's unusual!
Yep, but there's a really good excuse for this one... because today happens to be World Photo Day! And to top it off, I'm celebrating it with Joules Clothing.
Joules got in touch with me a few weeks ago, asking if I would work with them on a campaign for World Photo Day, inspired by family fun. Of course, I accepted, and got to work on what I wanted to shoot. Joules are amazing to work with, because they give me complete creative freedom. It's so wonderful when a brand trusts you enough to let you just do you thing, and deliver work that everyone loves.
I had various ideas for this, but when it came down to it, I knew I wanted to represent family in a bit of a different way. Whenever you hear the word "family," what normally comes to mind is mum, dad, little boy and little girl. The truth is though, not all families look like that, but that doesn't make them any less wonderful.
Elly is beautiful, a good friend of mine, and an incredible mum to her little boy Rory. I knew immediately that I wanted them to be the subjects for this photoshoot. When she accepted, I was thrilled!
I wanted to add another element of fun into the images though, so I asked my friend Amy if I could borrow her lovely dog, Rex, for the shoot. She agreed, so off we all went, to Mawnan Church (my favourite place in Cornwall) to shoot! Needless to say, Rory and Rex got on a treat, and I feel a bit guilty for having perhaps instigated Rory's plea for a dog of his own... Sorry, Elly!
So anyway, Happy World Photo Day! Probably the best day of the year for me ;) Thank you to Joules for trusting me with their brief, once more, and here's to future collaborations. Thanks to Elly and Rory, Amy and Rex, and to Ione for doing Elly's beautiful make up.
