I’ve just wrapped up from another two weeks spent in London. Although I didn’t shoot as much this time around, the two shoots I did do were with a whole lot more purpose and intention. The first shoot (a location editorial that I can’t yet share) went incredibly, and was probably my favourite work I’ve ever shot to date. And the second, the images you see here, served an entirely different purpose.
One of my goals over the next few weeks is to do a lot of one thing: play! I’m dedicating the next few weeks to playing with lights, moving them around, seeing what happens. I’m grabbing modifiers of all shapes and sizes, moving them, shifting them around, with no real expectation or goal other than to see what happens.
The goal behind this is simple:
Test, see if I discover something new I didn’t know I could do before.
Get out of my comfort zone.
The images you see here don’t include any of the light tests I did. Not because they weren’t good, they looked great, but I still ended up preferring the softer, natural images we achieved on this evening test. I’m pretty luck that my London home is blessed with incredible natural light!
If nothing else, I just want to increase my confidence, have fun, and experiment. Who knows where it’ll take me…
